Hotel VMG Kyoto Kamogawa

Begin Your Stay

The murmuring of the Kamogawa,
overlooking the mountains of the four seasons

Hotel VMG Kyoto Kamogawa, which has inherited a former traditional ryokan, stands in Kiyamachi, where many long-established famous shops line the streets, exuding the charm of Kyoto.

Among them, the guest rooms with a view of the Kamogawa River offer a calming location overlooking the gentle flow of the river and the mountains that display different expressions throughout the seasons. The Kamogawa River is cherished as a symbol of Kyoto, known for its clear waters and beautiful mountains, and has long been at the center of people's lives.

The history of the cool floors of the Kamogawa river is particularly old, believed to date back to the time of Hideyoshi.
Listen closely to the refreshing sounds of the river and feel the profound atmosphere of Kyoto. Enjoy a quality time that can only be experienced here.

The Kamogawa area has carved out culture and history

The Kamo River had been flooding repeatedly. In response to this, the Takase River was excavated to secure a stable waterway.

Kiyamachi, with cherry blossoms blooming along the river in spring and cool riverbed dining areas set up in summer where fireflies dance, is an area filled with charm and seasonal delights.

A space of dedication where past and present coexist

A room that retains the former charm of its historical significance as an inn, showcasing the craftsmanship of artisans with features like the coffered ceiling.

All rooms are equipped with traditional Japanese-style rooms, allowing you to relax while feeling the nostalgic charm of the old Kiyamachi street. In spring, you can enjoy the cherry blossoms along the Takase River, which are illuminated and can be viewed from the windows, offering a unique experience that is characteristic of Kyoto.

Immerse yourself in the refined ambiance of this national heritage site, once a favored retreat for the cultural and business elite.

FUNATSURU KYOTO KAMOGAWA RESORT, which was built in the 14th year of the Taisho era and has marked about 100 years of history, is a renovated former ryokan. It is located a 2-minute walk from the guest rooms.

In a wooden five-story building that is now impossible to reconstruct, traditional Japanese hospitality features such as the ornate ceiling coexist with modern Art Deco style interiors. Please enjoy a luxurious moment at the restaurant and lounge that retains the charm of a ryokan loved by many cultural and business figures, including Konosuke Matsushita.
