It is said that this was built by Mr. Ueno Goichi, the owner of the kaiseki restaurant "Sakau," which was once considered the best in Osaka, and a tea master of the Enshu school. Centered around the tea ceremony, cultural figures and tea practitioners from Kyoto gathered here, and the blend of Western and Japanese culture adopted by the upper class of the time is vividly reflected in various aspects, from the Western-style waiting room and living room to the Japanese garden and dedicated tea room, overflowing with the unique charm of Kyoto.
