A Heritage Retreat to Restore Mind and Body
Kazeno is a heritage retreat whose front desk, guest rooms, dining areas, and lounges are scattered throughout the town, so that exploring the town itself becomes part of the stay.…
Set among historic buildings scattered throughout a village known for its red-tiled roofs and white-walled storehouses, Kazeno Kurayoshi offers a stay that unfolds like a journey into the stories woven into the landscape.
Guided by the beauty of the surrounding mountains, set your mind free to the experiences beyond the everyday. Here, paths shaped by mountain faith and prayer meet Kurayoshi’s living traditions of craftsmanship, refined and sustained over generations. In Kurayoshi, where spirituality, craft, and luxury quietly come together, guests are welcomed into a retreat that restores both body and mind.
Nara is said to be the birthplace of sake brewed solely from rice: some 1,300 years ago, the first such brewery was established in the ancient capital of Heijō-kyō, producing sake to be presented to the emperor.
In Naramachi — the former precincts of Gangoji Temple, where streetscapes from the Edo to Taisho periods still remain — an underground stream flows from Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and sake breweries once lined its course.
The hotel that serves as the base for Kazeno Naramachi is one such sake brewery. Step outside, and you will find the streets much as they were in days gone by.
A white-walled town where artisans and merchants have cultivated tea and carried on their honest trade for four centuries. Encounter the living culture and spirit of this town as you wander among long-established tea shops and sake breweries.
Awaken your senses with an exquisite sip of sake, and give yourself over to the stillness of a townhouse steeped in history. In that luxury, serenity and quiet exhilaration restore both mind and body.
