A retreat embraced by mountains,
in a land shaped by its legends.

Set among historic buildings scattered throughout a village known for its red-tiled roofs and white-walled storehouses, Kazeno Kurayoshi offers a stay that unfolds like a journey into the stories woven into the landscape.

Guided by the beauty of the surrounding mountains, set your mind free to the experiences beyond the everyday. Here, paths shaped by mountain faith and prayer meet Kurayoshi’s living traditions of craftsmanship, refined and sustained over generations. In Kurayoshi, where spirituality, craft, and luxury quietly come together, guests are welcomed into a retreat that restores both body and mind.

Staying in cultural properties

The 'Ogawa House,' designated as a protected cultural property by Tottori Prefecture, conveys a refined design, and the 'Takata House,' which vividly retains the spirit of the lifestyle of a former merchant family.

What has been set up in the two buildings that tell the history of Kurayoshi is a private space consisting of just 11 rooms.

In a tatami room filled with the fragrance of fine wood, I gaze at the transom that bears the marks of the craftsman’s hand, surrendering myself to the breeze that flows through the window. The very act of experiencing the past way of life, its aesthetic values, and the culture rooted in this land opens a door to an extraordinary world.

An experience where the wind passes through the heart with every step

This is a place embraced by two sacred mountains, Mt. Daisen and Mt. Mitokusan, where mythology is intertwined with the land.

Every time I walk along the mountain paths trodden by ancient ascetics and the quiet alleys lined with white walls, I feel the mental sediment accumulated in the city dissolve gently in the wind.

A journey that follows the depths of Japan's beauty, bathed in the wind mixed with the presence of deities.

Throughout the stay, not only the city of Kurayoshi but the entire central area of Tottori Prefecture will gently awaken the five senses, becoming a stage for a retreat that allows the heart to play.

Unwinding the breath of the satoyama,
retreat dining

The fine hairs of sprouting wild vegetables, root vegetables imbued with the scent of earth, and natural spring water flowing from the sacred mountains. What we offer here is 'tuning food' that permeates the body and mind with the five elements of the satoyama (wood, fire, earth, metal, water), helping to return to one's original wavelength.

A pure flavor that appreciates the changing seasons through the five senses, stripped of unnecessary embellishments.

We will deliver a moment filled with such healthy joy in relation to food.
