Wrapped in the memories of Showa romance and commerce,
a serene 8 rooms
The "Koike Tobacco Shop and the Miyatani Family," which embodies a modern design from the early Showa period, and the "Maruju Pharmacy," which has supported the lives of people since the Meiji period. These two establishments, quietly weaving the history of Chichibu's temple town, have been arranged as a private space with only eight rooms, deeply embedded in the local context.
Gazing at the heavy doors of the storehouse and the beams marked by the hands of artisans, I simply surrender to the soft scent of the hinoki bath. The 'luxury of doing nothing,' enveloped by the vibrancy and rich culture of this former commercial city, quietly conveys the profound aesthetic sensibility that this land has nurtured.
