The autumn tradition that heralds the season in Tamba-Sasayama, the Kasuga Shrine Autumn Festival.
Every year, the local parishioners put their hearts into the preparations, bringing lively festival music and the light of lanterns to the town.
This time, at Sasayama Castle Town Hotel Nipponia, we have prepared an activity where you can participate as a member of the town in the autumn festival of Kasuga Shrine, one of the three major festivals of Sasayama.
Experience the arrival of autumn and the historical culture that Tamba Sasayama proudly boasts in this historic castle town.
Kasuga Shrine Autumn Festival is
The Kasuga Shrine's autumn festival, which is the guardian of the castle town of Sasayama, has a history of over 350 years and is a representative festival of Tanba Sasayama.
Nine hoko (float) and four mikoshi (portable shrines) parade through the castle town of Sasayama, with the sounds of flutes and drums echoing throughout.
Influenced by Kyoto culture, it combines elegance and grandeur, and was designated as an intangible folk cultural asset of the city in 2017.
Of course, when you hear the lively shouts of the luxurious hoko and the golden mikoshi and taiko mikoshi, you can feel the deepening of autumn even more.
