View of Tanba Sasayama from the Great Study
During the Edo period, 'Shinoyama Castle' was built under the command of Tokugawa Ieyasu as a base for controlling the western territories. The large study hall, which does not have a main keep, has been restored, and from the stone walls, one can overlook the castle town of Shinoyama. Additionally, the rich landscape adorned by the surrounding mountains and rice fields is also a breathtaking sight.

Time travel to the early Edo period
An extraordinary experience
The town of Sasayama, centered around the main hall of Sasayama Castle, is a unique castle town unlike any other, featuring the preserved merchant streets of "Kawaramachi Tsumairu Shokagai" from the early Edo period and the samurai residences of "Okachimachi." Today, the town is lined with shops, cafes, and souvenir stores that utilize historical buildings, and by strolling through the town, you may have unexpected and wonderful encounters.
Unique and somewhat nostalgic
take a break at a historical building
Our hotel, which is an Albergo Diffuso, has seven accommodation buildings scattered throughout the town.
The accommodation buildings, which have been renovated to retain the charm of the merchant houses, residences, and storehouses that were used at the time, feature impressive beams that have supported the buildings since then, and Taisho glass that is no longer manufactured, evoking a sense of nostalgia. You can spend a leisurely time reflecting on the stories that each room holds.
French dinner using local ingredients
at an auberge standing in a castle town
LE UN is a French restaurant that has been repurposed from the residence of a bank president. Tamba-Sasayama is known for its many brand-name ingredients and is also referred to as a "gourmet town." Additionally, the restaurant uses "Tamba Tachikui ware," a traditional craft from Tamba-Sasayama and one of Japan's six ancient kilns, allowing guests to enjoy a visually beautiful and sensory experience of locally sourced French cuisine.

Only by staying can you encounter
the yet unseen rhythm of Tanba-Sasayama
I recommend taking a morning walk in the castle town of Sasayama, which you can only experience by staying in the town. You can enjoy a graceful moment in the quiet castle town, where the chirping of small birds resonates. From autumn to winter, the 'Tamba mist' occurs, allowing you to enjoy a scene that envelops the castle town.
The seasonal produce nurtured by the land of Tanba Sasayama
Experience it with a Japanese meal
For breakfast, you will enjoy seasonal ingredients from Tamba Sasayama served in a traditional Japanese style. You can savor local brand rice "Dekansho Rice" cooked in a Tamba Tachikui-yaki earthenware pot, and the miso soup features "Kuro Mame Miso" made from Tamba black soybeans, allowing you to indulge in local delicacies from the morning.
Inherited from the Edo period

During the Edo period, the town of Sasayama flourished under the command of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who ordered the construction of Sasayama Castle. This town is rich in facilities that allow visitors to explore its history. Among them, the four cultural facilities, known as historical facilities, are each housed in buildings of high historical value, where visitors can learn about and experience the history and culture of Tanba Sasayama.
Searching for pottery in the Tanba pottery village
There is an area called 'Konda', located about a 30-minute drive from the front building, where many studios of Tanba Tachikui pottery are gathered. It is overflowing with spots perfect for those who want to find their ideal pottery or actually talk with the artists.
