Flow of experience
① Cotton picking experience (20-30 minutes)
An experience of separating cotton from seeds and fibers using a special machine. You will enjoy the first step of making yarn by loosening the cotton with your own hands and extracting the seeds hidden in the cotton using a spinning cotton picker.
The cotton you picked during the experience can be taken home as a one-of-a-kind original mini cushion.
② Weaving experience (10 minutes)
A hands-on experience of operating a loom. You will create fabric using warp and weft threads.
③Dyeing experience (80-90 minutes)
Using the boiled juice of black soybeans and Tamba chestnuts, which are local specialties of Tamba Sasayama City, you will dye fabrics. You can use chopsticks and marbles to dye according to your preference and create your original design.
④ Sewing experience (about 10 minutes)
At the end of the dyeing process, you will finish by sewing our facility's original name with a sewing machine. (※ It is also possible for staff to sew on your behalf.)
Please enjoy a walk in the town of Sasayama while holding the completed product.
Notes
- Please apply by 12 o'clock, four days before the experience.
- The cotton picking experience will involve the use of machinery. Those with long nails or those who have had their nails done may risk injury or damage while operating the machinery.
- The machine is designed to utilize rotation, and to prevent entanglement, we may ask you to remove long earrings, necklaces, and scarves, and to tie back long hair.
- The dyeing experience involves using dye. We provide aprons for free, but please be aware that dye may stain your clothing, so come dressed in clothes that you don't mind getting dirty.
- Depending on the content of the dyeing experience, there may be instances where the items do not dry within the allotted time. In such cases, staff may label the items and ship them at a later date.
- In the sewing experience, a sewing machine will be used. Since this experience involves some risks, staff will be present to assist. If you feel anxious, please do not hesitate to let us know, as staff can handle it for you.
- For safety reasons, staff may reach out to you.
