The SAWASHIRO building, restored from a tea shop that sold tea by weight during the Edo period, features a long, continuous earthen floor that evokes the scenery of that time. The names of the various buildings in our facility are derived from types of chrysanthemums that were offered to the Tokugawa family, who constructed Sasayama Castle. The name SAWASHIRO is derived from 'sawashiro-giku'.

Tamba Sasayama, which developed around Sasayama Castle built in the center of a nature-rich basin surrounded by mountains, has nurtured a unique culture by its predecessors, which has been passed down to the present day along with the town's landscape.
The SAWASHIRO building supported the castle town as a tea shop during the Edo period and continues to convey its spirit to the present day. All guest rooms in SAWASHIRO are maisonette-style, allowing you to spend your time in Tanba Sasayama in a spacious, living-like environment.
