The exhibition features tools and valuable photographs that supported salt production in the past. You can visually trace the development of Takehara from salt fields to sake brewing and shipping industries. Additionally, an audio guide (available in Japanese, English, and Chinese) is provided to explore a total of 11 spots, starting from the former Morikawa family residence, which includes historical buildings and merchant houses. The audio guide also includes recordings of the "Hamako Uta" (a traditional song) and the sound of hoes, allowing you to immerse yourself in the vibrant memories of Takehara from that time simply by listening. By listening to the audio guide alongside the exhibition, you can experience a deeper re-creation of salt production in the past. Enjoy the story of Takehara, where various cultures flourished, by tuning in closely.

About the former Morikawa residence
Located at the entrance of the Takehara townscape, this is an Important Cultural Property of Takehara City. It was built on the site of the first beach of the Takehara salt fields as the residence of Mr. Hachiro Morikawa, who served as the mayor of Takehara from 1924 to 1936. Designated as an Important Cultural Property in 2004, it now marks a new era as a club lounge and café. The historically rich main house and beautiful garden remain as they were, allowing visitors to experience the history and culture of Takehara.
