[30 minutes from our hotel] An introduction to Okunoshima Island, where you can be healed by the Seto Inland Sea and rabbits.

Thank you for your continued patronage.
From "Tadumaiko Port," which is a 15-minute drive or train ride from our hotel, you take a boat for another 15 minutes to reach the small island "Okunoshima" floating in the Seto Inland Sea.
The island, with a circumference of about 4 km, features a landscape where gentle seas and adorable rabbits live, making it a popular spot in Takehara visited by many people from both domestic and international locations.

How to Enjoy Okunoshima Island
Healed by wild rabbits.
When you step onto the island, you will be greeted by many wild rabbits. It is said that there are currently over 500 of them. You can see the adorable rabbits everywhere, such as in the square in front of the holiday village.
<Notes>
・Please purchase rabbit food before crossing to the island.
Rabbit food is not sold on the island. It is recommended to buy it at shops like the one at Tadanoumi Port.
・Please observe proper manners.
Rabbits are wild animals. Please do not hold them or chase them, but watch over them gently.
Also, please be sure to take any leftover vegetables or trash back with you to protect the island's environment.

Island hopping by rental bicycle.
If you want to explore the island, renting a bicycle (with electric assist) is convenient.
While riding along the seaside roads, try to find your favorite "rabbit spots." There are also playful objects scattered around the island, such as a microphone shaped like rabbit ears.

history
"The island erased from maps, wishing for peace. It is hard to imagine from its current tranquil appearance, but during the war, this island had a poison gas factory and was erased from maps for the sake of confidentiality."
war relics
On the island, remnants of the power generation facilities and storage buildings from that time still remain as ruins, evoking a sense of unique beauty and the weight of history.
Poison Gas Museum
A museum is also established to convey the importance of peace so that a tragic history is never repeated.
