"40th Autumn Bar Street" to enjoy around the streets of Hakodate | Held on September 6, 2026
Thank you very much for your continued patronage of our hotel.
The western district of Hakodate, filled with exotic architecture, hilly streets, and the unique scenery of a port town, will host the '40th Autumn Bar Street in the Western District of Hakodate' on Sunday, September 6, 2026, where visitors can enjoy the local food, drinks, and stroll through this historic city.
Starting in 2004, the 'Bar Street' event is celebrating its 40th occurrence this time. It is a representative gourmet event of Hakodate, where participants can enjoy a special dish and drink available only for that day while visiting various shops in the western area of Hakodate.
Hakodate's old town becomes a one-night-only bar street.
The way to enjoy 'Bar Street' is to walk through the western area at the foot of Mount Hakodate with a booklet of five tickets and a map, visiting shops that catch your interest.
With each ticket, you can enjoy a 'pinchos' appetizer, creatively prepared by each store, along with one drink.
The event features a diverse range of restaurants including French, Italian, Japanese, sushi, cafes, bars, and hotel restaurants. This 40th edition will have 56 establishments participating, not only from Hakodate city but also from towns like Kikonai, Hokuto, Imakane, and even from Hirosaki city in Aomori Prefecture across the Tsugaru Strait.
Unlike spending time leisurely in a single shop, walking through the bar street while looking at the map and wondering 'where to go next' is a unique pleasure of the bar street. It also seems to provide an opportunity to encounter shops that one wouldn't normally visit and to discover new flavors of Hakodate.
Not just food, but enjoying the city itself for a day.
The charm of the bar street is not just in the food and drinks.
The Hakodate Western District, which serves as the venue, is an area dotted with buildings that evoke a sense of history since the port's opening, as well as slopes, churches, and red brick warehouses. The time spent walking to the next shop itself becomes a stroll that is characteristic of Hakodate.
On the day of the event, there will be performances by a big band, hospitality services, and events like "Kimono de Bar" planned at various locations throughout the city. Against the backdrop of the historic streets, music, food, and interactions among people will create a lively atmosphere that is somewhat different from the usual Hakodate.
How about visiting one interesting shop after another while gazing at the scenery of the port town transitioning from day to night?
