Bonsai Stone Arrangement Experience - Creating a Small Nature on Stone -

This is a private workshop where participants can engage with the rich nature of Iga and explore the Japanese aesthetic and perception of time through the creation of stone-based bonsai. While listening to the explanations of bonsai artist Kazuhiro Takebe, participants will appreciate the bonsai in the garden, select stones and bonsai materials, and apply moss as they cultivate a small piece of nature on the stone. The completed bonsai will be a unique work that continues to change over time. This special 90-minute experience allows participants to reconnect with nature and the spirit of Iga, fostering a sense of respect and closeness to the natural world.

Greetings to the world of bonsai

After a greeting by bonsai artist Kazuhira Takebe, there will be an explanation of what bonsai is, the natural scenery that bonsai expresses, and the aesthetic sense of the Japanese people.

Gallery guide - Bonsai viewing

You will appreciate the bonsai arranged in the garden and encounter the charm of their unique forms, which resemble captured natural landscapes, with each one being 'one of a kind'.

Choosing stones and materials

Select stones while discerning their shape and flow, as well as the front view that will serve as the foundation for the creation. Next, choose bonsai materials that match the stones and observe the individuality and movement of the trees.

Stone-based bonsai making experience

Perform root cutting, and use wire and clay to secure the stones and wood. Finally, carefully attach moss to create a small natural setting on top of the stones.

Completion・Commemorative photo

We will display the completed work and take commemorative photographs.

*Required time: 90 minutes (30 minutes for explanation / 60 minutes for work)

・Please apply by 10 days before the experience date.
・Please participate in clothes that can get dirty.
・The experience location and meeting point are in the Iga-Maruhashi area. Details will be provided in the reservation confirmation.
・Please come in clothes that can get dirty, as there is a possibility of getting dirt on you.
・If you are bringing children, please ensure that parents do not take their eyes off the children.
・The bonsai created cannot be taken abroad.
・For residents in Japan, if you wish to purchase the bonsai created, it can be bought for approximately 10,000 to 50,000 yen. (Cash and credit cards accepted)
・The cost of taking the bonsai home, transportation, and guide fees are not included in the experience fee.
・Cancellations after the reservation is completed will incur cancellation fees according to the policy below. Thank you for your understanding.
10 days prior: 30% of the experience fee
2 days prior: 50% of the experience fee
1 day prior: 100% of the experience fee
