[Announcement] Sharpen your five senses and quietly connect with yourself. "Five Senses Writing Mindfulness Experience" sales have started.

Thank you very much for your continued patronage of our establishment.

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new activity called "Gokan-sho Mindfulness Experience," which combines the unique style of experiencing books through the five senses, known as "Gokan-sho," with breathing techniques.

As the new year begins, it's a time to reflect on oneself again.
Why not spend some quiet time listening to your heart and voice?

What is the experience of mindfulness through the five senses?

'Five Senses Calligraphy' is a unique style proposed by calligrapher Fukuji Ko, which encourages experiencing calligraphy through the five senses. Through the act of writing, it leads to a meditative time that allows one to deeply connect with oneself by richly perceiving the senses.

Flow of Experience

Experience starts at 15:30.

First, I will explain the mindfulness experience through writing. This is a preparatory time to accept the current situation as it is, through the medium of 'writing.' All the tools used in the experience are related to the regions of Mie and Iga. Upon your return, you will receive a gift of postcards or files made from Iga's traditional washi paper.

  • Inkstone: Ogatsu inkstone
  • Ink: Suzuka Ink (Traditional Craft Product)
  • Brush: Kumano brush
  • Paperweight: A work by the Iga ceramic artist, Mr. Jo Shin.
  • Half paper: Inshu washi
  • Postcard / Carry file: Ise washi "Bashō"

Practice of Breathing Techniques

I focus on myself through my breathing.

Open the five senses and enjoy the act of writing.

This is a time to face yourself, the space, and the arrangement of tools without looking at others.
You will write down your name, what you feel today from within, and words of gratitude.

Tea time

You will spend a relaxing time sharing your thoughts and experiences while enjoying tea (or herbal medicine and herbs) from the Iga region.

When you return, we will present you with a shinobigami as a souvenir.
The shinobigami is created by Mr. Fukuchi, and it is printed on handmade washi paper in business card size. Each one is infused with an original essential oil to match the nuances of the text. It is an item that you can discreetly keep in your wallet or planner, allowing you to casually enjoy the five senses.
