From April 10 to June 7, 2026, a special exhibition titled "The Sacred Mountains of Gods and Buddhas: Yoshino and Omine" will be held at the Nara National Museum.
This exhibition commemorates the 20th anniversary of the World Heritage registration and will showcase the treasures of Yoshino and Omine, which have been preserved as a sacred site of Shugendo.
It is an extremely rare opportunity to experience the history of prayers woven over 1300 years, including secret Buddha statues and the National Treasure "Bronze Sutra Cylinder of Fujiwara no Michinaga" written by Fujiwara no Michinaga himself, which are not usually visible to the public.

In the twilight, an ethereal dance emerges in the flickering light of the firewood.
This sacred event, considered one of Japan's oldest薪能 (Noh performances), is close to Naramachi, allowing you to return to your accommodation on foot while soaking in the afterglow of the performance.
