A "SAKE HOTEL" with only 8 rooms.

Kazeno Naramachi is a hotel with the concept of 'SAKE HOTEL', renovated from the old residence of the Nara Toyozawa Sake Brewery, which was founded in the Meiji era, and features 8 rooms.

While preserving the beauty and design of traditional Japanese houses, modern comforts such as beds, sofas, and water facilities are also included.

There are eight guest rooms, each with a different design, including one that was originally a storehouse, one that was renovated from a tea room, and separate buildings, all of which create unique spaces.

The charming
birthplace of sake, Nara

Nara is said to be the birthplace of sake brewed solely from rice: some 1,300 years ago, the first such brewery was established in the ancient capital of Heijō-kyō, producing sake to be presented to the emperor.

In Naramachi — the former precincts of Gangoji Temple, where streetscapes from the Edo to Taisho periods still remain — an underground stream flows from Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and sake breweries once lined its course.

The hotel that serves as the base for Kazeno Naramachi is one such sake brewery. Step outside, and you will find the streets much as they were in days gone by.

About Nara Toyozawa Sake Brewery

In the first year of the Meiji era (1868), Yoshisuke Toyozawa established a sake wholesale business in Tamatsukuri, Osaka. Later, he ventured into sake brewing, starting the production of sake in Nada (Kobe), Fushimi (Kyoto), Nara, Sennan Ozaki (Osaka Prefecture), and Satoyama (Okayama Prefecture). Since its founding, this long-established sake brewery in Nara has been dedicated to handcrafted sake production, with little mechanization.

The former residence of the Nara Toyozawa Sake Brewery, founded during the Meiji era, has been opened as a hotel with the intention of preserving this valuable building for future generations. With the cooperation of Toyozawa Sake Brewery, guests can enjoy tours of the current sake-making facility and taste exclusive sake that can only be found here. Additionally, guests can relax in a sake lees bath to soothe their travel fatigue, enriching their stay with the rich flavors of Nara's sake.
