Yame Fukushima - Townscape of White Walls

Yame-Fukushima, which flourished as a commercial center in the Chikugo region since the Edo period, still beautifully retains traditional "Igura-zukuri" townhouses from the Edo, Meiji, and Taisho eras. Walking with family along the nostalgic stone-paved alleys and white-walled streets evokes a thrilling feeling as if stepping into a history textbook.
In the townscape, there are workshops of artisans who create traditional crafts such as Yame lanterns and Yame sudare, as well as charming tea houses. It will be a valuable experience during the summer vacation to learn about Japan's traditional culture through the five senses.

The refreshing green, shining brightly under the summer sun, appears vividly to children's eyes, and from the viewpoint at the top, there is a grand panorama that overlooks the Chikugo Plain and the Ariake Sea.
Experiencing the grandeur of Japan's renowned high-quality tea, 'Yame tea', being cultivated in the midst of unspoiled nature while feeling a pleasant breeze is sure to be a highlight of your summer family trip.

A moment at the inn.

"Kazeno Yame-Fukushima," a modern renovation of former sake breweries and large merchant houses, conveys the history of a merchant town that thrived as the castle town of Fukushima. Stepping inside feels like entering a hidden retreat that transcends time. You gaze up at the heavy beams and admire the traditional architectural designs that reflect the craftsmanship of artisans. It brings the same thrill as finding a 'secret base' that you were obsessed with as a child.
At our hotel, we offer a special dining experience that can be enjoyed by children and the whole family.
A luxury of savoring the rich blessings of Chikugo and Yame tea.

For dinner, we will prepare a special French dinner featuring 'Kyushu black-haired wagyu beef,' known for its tender meat, along with fresh summer vegetables grown in the fertile lands of the Chikugo plains, and the essence of 'Yame tea,' a local treasure.

We also offer activities such as Yame tea tasting and a dyeing experience with Kurume Kasuri fabric. Please feel free to consider them.
