In the 9th year of Reiwa, marking 1125 years since the passing of Sugawara no Michizane (the deity Tenjin), the major renovation of the main shrine, the first in 124 years, has been completed.
The main shrine, meticulously repaired using traditional techniques, now embodies a serene tranquility and elegant beauty.

Revived beauty and grandeur
after a major renovation in 124 years
In this renovation work, all the lacquer and coloring that had faded due to years of rain, wind, and ultraviolet rays were completely repainted, and repairs were made to approximately 800 pieces of metal fittings used in the decorations.
Furthermore, the roof was covered with 3,800 pieces of cypress bark, completing the full replacement of the cypress bark roofing.
The main shrine, where the skills of artisans converge, has been beautifully restored to reflect the splendid style of the Momoyama period, proudly showcasing its impressive grandeur just as it was in the past.

The 'Nighttime Special Formal Worship' is held after the general visiting hours have ended, specifically after 21:00.
