Dazaifu has a history as a distant court even before the establishment of the Tenmangu Shrine. You can experience many traces of history and culture, such as the ruins of the Dazaifu government office, which was established as a base for exchange with the continent, Mount Homan, where people prayed for safe voyages, and Sakamoto Hachiman Shrine, where nobles are said to have gathered for poetry gatherings.
