A former residence that has been loved by the town since the Meiji era
Kokuan, located just a one-minute walk from Tenmangu Shrine.
This building, designated as an important structure in Dazaifu City, was built during the Meiji era by Yoshisuke Haizan, a sumi-e painter who served Tenmangu Shrine, and has since been cherished by the town as a restaurant.
Since that time, it has been a popular building that impresses with the historical atmosphere of Tenmangu Shrine, and the garden retains its original appearance, overflowing with charm in every season.
The name "Kofuka" comes from the name of the plum blossom, which is synonymous with Dazaifu.

The fish shop that has offered to Tenmangu Shrine
Kōkotei, located just a one-minute walk from the front building, Kokuan, is situated on the Renga Street where houses historically lined up to deliver seafood and mountain produce (sacred offerings) to the Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine. This building was once a fish shop that supplied fish to the shrine daily, as well as a restaurant.
At that time, the decorative windows and intricate wooden crafts of the ryotei create a charming space that evokes the culture of Dazaifu.

Annex built due to the prosperity of the ryotei
Baika, located one minute on foot from the front building, Kokuan.
This building, located next to the former fish shop Kōkotei, was born from the renovation of an annex that was added during the Showa era because the fish shop became prosperous and cramped.
This is the largest guest room in the hotel, offering a spacious and relaxing environment enveloped in the natural scents of the garden and hinoki bath visible from the room.
