KOURAI, located at the starting point of the "Iga Kaido," which flourished as a major artery of life in the past. The traditional townhouses inherit the block structure and land division from the castle town era, featuring guest rooms with modern architecture that have won the Mie Prefecture Architecture Award, and spacious open areas.
Within the facility, there is a workshop for Iga kumihimo called "Fujioka Kumihimo Store," where you can enjoy Iga's traditional crafts during your stay.

Iga Ueno, surrounded by mountains, has developed its unique culture, including the tradition of ninjas, haiku, and Iga kumihimo, away from the outside world. Additionally, it has preserved historical buildings from the Edo, Meiji, and modern eras without suffering major war damage.

The KOURAI building is a traditional town house that inherits the block structure and land division from the feudal era.
This area faces the starting point of the "Iga Kaido" that connects Ueno and Tsu, and the intersection of the "Yamato Kaido" that links Mie and Nara, thriving as a major artery of people's lives.
You can still enjoy the charming streets where traditional wagashi shops, temples, and long-established restaurants remain.

By not placing TVs, clocks, or bright lighting, you can enjoy a slow moment away from the daily hustle and bustle.

While adding modern comforts, we have preserved as much of the original space as possible. Therefore, although the insulation, airtightness, and soundproofing are not high, we offer a special space where you can enjoy the beautiful design that allows you to feel the breath of the time within the accumulated history.

While retaining the heavy doors and beams unique to the storehouse, it features a modern decor that pays attention to detail.
The garden lanterns and objects are reused from that time, allowing you to feel the atmosphere of the original construction.
The second-floor bedroom, with its beams close at hand, offers a private and relaxing space.
