A historical residence where Hirooka Yukishiba, a disciple of Matsuo Basho, is believed to have lived, built in the late Edo period.
You can enjoy traditional and beautiful architecture throughout, including a pine tree and bug cage windows inspired by Matsuo Basho's haiku, as well as a variety of vertical lattices such as the Shimotaya lattice.

Surrounded by mountains, Iga Ueno has distanced itself from the outside world, allowing its unique culture, including the traditions of ninjas, haiku, and Iga kumihimo, to flourish. Additionally, it has reached the present day without suffering major war damage, preserving historical buildings from the Edo, Meiji, and modern eras.

The NIMATSU building is said to have been constructed in the late Edo period and is a lodging facility that inherits the residential structure of Iga at that time, where Matsuo Basho's disciple "Hirooka Yukishi" lived.
Located in the center of the castle town "Nakamachi," where many traditional townhouses and shops line the streets, you can feel the breath of the townspeople from the past through the townscape.

While adding modern comforts, we have preserved as much of the original space as possible. Therefore, although the insulation, airtightness, and soundproofing are not high, we offer a special space where you can enjoy the beautiful design that allows you to feel the breath of the time within the accumulated history.

From the bedroom on the second floor, you can gaze at the town through a bug cage window and enjoy the "Danjiri event" held during the Ueno Tenjin Festival. Additionally, in the garden, a single pine tree is planted in reference to a haiku composed by Basho when he visited the haiku gathering. After enjoying a stroll through the town of Iga, please relax in the open space, surrendering to the clear air while enjoying the living room with a high ceiling and the bathroom overlooking the private garden.

The guest room has been modernly renovated while preserving the original stone materials, walls, and columns from its construction. In the living area on the first floor, you can enjoy a private and comfortable time while basking in the evening breeze and sunlight from the wooden terrace. At the end of the day, indulge in a luxurious moment in the semi-open bathroom, enveloped by the scent of cypress and overlooking the garden.

A comfortable flat-type guest room designed as a single-story building, with the living area, water facilities, and bedroom all on one floor. You can feel the charm in various places, such as the Iga pottery tiles in the water area and the large moss-covered rocks in the garden. A morning bath is also recommended to start your day. Immerse yourself in the scent of wood in the cypress bath and enjoy the outdoor air while gazing at the courtyard from the cool relaxation area.
