The haiku culture established by Matsuo Basho, the tradition of ninjas, and Iga kumihimo, all of these are still passed down in the town today.

Iga Ueno Castle

4 minutes by car, 15 minutes on foot from the front
Hirayama Castle, located in the center of the basin.
Surrounded by rivers and boasting stone walls about 30 meters high, the highest in Japan, it has been protected from enemy attacks and has maintained the town's autonomy.
Now, it stands as a symbol of Iga, a hub of culture and industry.

Iga-ryu Ninja Museum

A museum about ninjas located in Ueno Park.
You can fully experience ninja culture, including hands-on shuriken throwing, watching demonstrations of ninjutsu using ninja tools, and viewing materials related to the history of ninjutsu.

Fujioka Kumihimo Store

A 7-minute walk from the front
is a store selling "Iga kumihimo," characterized by its silky smooth texture and vibrant dyeing, adjacent to our hotel accommodation building "KOURAI."
The store, renovated from a house dating back to the mid-Edo period, offers a wide range of traditional Japanese accessories, including authentic Iga kumihimo obi cords, obi, obiage, zori, bags, and more.

Basho Memorial Museum

4 minutes by car, 13 minutes on foot from the front
Matsuo Basho, the great poet known for "Oku no Hosomichi," was born and raised in Iga.
This museum, built in 1959 as part of a project to honor Basho, preserves numerous materials related to linked-verse poetry from the early modern period to the present.

Haiseiden

6 minutes by car, 15 minutes on foot from the front
A palace built in 1942 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Matsuo Basho's birth.
Its shape represents Basho's travel appearance, and in 2010 it was designated as an Important Cultural Property. Inside the palace, there is a statue of Basho made from Iga ware, which is displayed during the "Basho Festival" on October 12, the anniversary of his death.

Old Suhirodo

A school built during the Edo period to educate the children of samurai living in the Iga, Yamato, and Yamashiro domains.
The auditorium from the time of its founding can be seen, and due to its high historical value, it has been designated as a National Historic Site.
It is now cherished by citizens as a venue for cultural enlightenment activities.

Sugawara Shrine Ueno Tenjin Shrine

A 5-minute walk from the front
is a shrine dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane.
With a history of over 400 years, the "Ueno Tenjin Festival," one of the three major autumn festivals in Kansai, is held here every October. It is recognized as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property and the "Danjiri" events held there have been registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, making it a beloved festival representing Japan.

Danjiri Hall

An 8-minute walk from the front
This tourist spot features a display of three danjiri used in the Ueno Tenjin Festival, as well as the rare "Oni Procession" found nationwide.
Inside the facility, there is a free entry "Local Products Shop," which offers a wide range of Iga products, including ninja goods, Iga pottery, Iga sake, and pickles.

from the front, close to Iga Ueno Castle and Danjiri Hall. The name "Fuone" means "room" in Finnish, and the interior, which is decorated in white and wood tones, offers a spacious and relaxing atmosphere.
It features a rich menu with a focus on organic coffee, chai simmered with spices, and rich handmade cheesecake, covering everything from drinks to sweets.

Iga no Kyomaruya

As a souvenir brand themed around "Iga and ninjas", we offer a variety of products centered on ukiyo-e ninja items.
Products utilizing Iga kumihimo, such as aloha shirts, and cat incense burners made from Iga-yaki are also enjoyed as souvenirs from both domestic and international visitors.

Castle Town Confectionery Street

an experience content that allows you to enjoy the traditional Japanese sweets shops of Iga, which flourished as a castle town.
When you buy a ticket, you will receive a voucher that can be exchanged for the recommended products from each store.

Craftsman's Village

A 9-minute walk from the front
A museum where you can learn about and experience the traditional craft of "kumihimo" from Iga Ueno.
During business hours, you can experience kumihimo making at any time without a reservation.

Nishimachi Yakakan / Hanamori coffee stand

An 8-minute walk from the front
is a souvenir shop renovated from a traditional house. New souvenirs that combine tradition and trend are lined up.
You can also purchase Iga ware from "Haseen".
The Hanamori coffee stand, which is attached to Kakan, is a coffee and fried bread shop. It's a place you should definitely stop by when you get a little hungry while exploring the castle town.

Yōkan-zuke Miyazaki-ya

A long-established store that handles pickles and soy sauce unique to the basin.
The Yōkan-zuke is a traditional food said to have been eaten by ninjas and Tōdō Takatora.
Street food sweets available only on holidays are also recommended.

Kikuno Store

A 9-minute walk from the front
A sake shop specializing in Iga sake.
All the sake served at our establishment is available for purchase.
Please try tasting at the coin-operated server in the store and find your favorite sake.

Mokumoku Farm

22 minutes by car, 1 hour by public transport from the front
A spot that families should definitely visit.
Not only can you enjoy farm-like experiences such as milking and mini pig shows,
but you can also enjoy "food education" throughout the facility with hands-on experiences and agricultural activities.

Haseyuen

22 minutes by car, 1 hour by public transport from the front
The main store of "Haseien", the most famous kiln of Iga-yaki.
Not only can you purchase and view Iga-yaki, but you can also visit cultural properties such as the 16-chamber climbing kiln and the Taisho-kan, which are almost non-existent in other regions.
The coffee served at the Taisho-kan in Iga-yaki cups is exceptional.

Akame Forty-Eight Waterfalls

46 minutes by car, 1 hour by public transport from the front
A valley located in the neighboring town of Nabari. A recommended hiking spot for those who want to feel nature.
A place where ninjas are said to have trained, and even today, you can actively experience training.

Gallery Yamahon

In the Iga-yaki village, a gallery with cylindrical pillars displays ceramics and crafts. A gallery where you can encounter beautiful vessels, craft works, miscellaneous goods, and art.
It is a museum-like space where you can pick up and view works by various artists.
Additionally, it features a café, Cafe & Library Noka, and a natural food specialty store, Roka Natural Market,
which operates under the concept of "a healthy and enriching life," offering organic, additive-free foods and internationally certified organic products.
