Heritage retreat with only 11 rooms

The stage for the stay is set in the "Ogawa House," which breathes with a refined design as if time has stopped, and the "Takata House," where the warmth of merchant life still lingers. These two residences, which have quietly woven the history of Kurayoshi, have been arranged into a small luxury space with just 11 rooms, designed to free the spirit.

In a tatami room fragrant with precious wood, I gaze at the transom marked by the hands of artisans, surrendering myself to the breeze that flows through the window. This 'luxury of doing nothing,' enveloped in the richness of the past, gently stirs my dormant sensibilities and gracefully returns me to my true self.

Ogawa family

A family of merchants that has been brewing since the late Edo period, and after the Meiji era, led the modernization of Kurayoshi by engaging in the silk industry and other ventures. The main house, Western-style building, new tatami room, and tea room "Seiwaken" are connected, coexisting as a public face of a businessman and a private space for enjoying tea ceremonies. This building includes six guest rooms and a front desk.
